13For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
Even though this scripture is talking about the people of Judah of so long ago, it still applies today. The land of Judah had forsaken God as they had done so many times before. We see here where Jeremiah describes God as the “fountain of living waters.” The true source of a continual flowing of fresh water for any who drink yet Judah chose to quench her thirst with sin. Sin only lasts for a season then it’s “fun” is gone. A cistern was used to hold water which won’t last long with holes in it. Judah was described as a nation who drank from cisterns with holes and these holes were made by them. They created those broken cisterns that could contain no water. God was their true source of refreshing water and they lost it.
How about you today, what are you drinking from in your spiritual walk? Are you drink from the fountain that will never run dry? Let today be the day that you allow Christ Jesus be your source of Living Water. Christ loves you my friend... turn to Him today. Https://www.faithsbook.net/
