Years ago, my pastor talked about people in communist China who had to have church at home, in secret. He talked about how those folks who realize they are literally offering up their lives just for the privilege to worship God. He spoke of just how sweet their experience of worship was. And when the Chinese missionary who pastored that group was caught and jailed for his faith-he served his time and went right back to serving God. That missionary told my pastor he would never trade that sweet relationship with almighty God for the relative safety of living somewhere else.
I would never wish the suffering so many in our world are experiencing currently on anyone. My hope is we can learn from this. To remember what is important: faith, family. To put things in proper perspective. To value what is truly valuable and leave trivial where it belongs.
